The Office of 公共安全 will help the campus community in certain non-emergency situations. These situations are considered a lower priority than emergencies and may not be responded to immediately if an emergency is occurring.

校园安全护卫队

Although the campus is a relatively safe place, we do encourage the student community to travel in groups of two or more. This is especially true when traveling around campus at night. The Office of 公共安全 provides a 校园 Safety Escort to ANY student who requests one. This service will also be provided to groups of students if they make the request.

There are 公共安全 Officers on duty 24 hours a day who will provide this service.

To request a 校园 Safety Escort, call the Office of 公共安全 at 812-488-2051 and provide 以下几点:

• 名字
• 具体位置(e).g. Main entrance of the library)
• 目的地

注意: The 公共安全 Officer will be in uniform and have a photo ID displayed on their uniform. For additional safety purposes, the Officer will be able to recite your name upon request.

Medical Care Transportation

In cases where medical attention is needed for illness or minor injury, the Office of 公共安全 will transport students to the on-campus Health & Wellness Center or a hospital emergency room. Residential students should get in touch with a Residence Assistant or their Residential Coordinator before contacting 公共安全 in these situations. Should a student need transportation to a scheduled doctor's appointment or to pick up medications, alternative means should be used.

Situations when 公共安全 Officers may provide transportation include, but are not limited to, 以下几点:

• Cold or Flu like symptoms (COVID-19 protocols may impact the decision to transport)
• Minor cuts and abrasions
• Sprained or twisted joints

汽车援助

The Office of 公共安全 has the capability to jump-start vehicles. If you think you have a dead battery, call 812-488-2051 and provide the following information:

• 名字
• Location (Be as specific as you can)
• Vehicle description, including color- make- model

Raising your car hood while will help the Officer locate you once they arrive in the general area.

If additional services are needed, 公共安全 will call a tow company at the owner's request. The person requesting the tow company services is responsible for cost of the tow company services. The University is not responsible for damage or loss of property related to tow company services.
